Kate Middleton captured the sweet new portrait on Louis’s first day of nursery school.
Prince Louis is all smiles ahead of his third birthday tomorrow.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have shared a new portrait of their youngest child on the official Kensington Palace Instagram this afternoon, showing the young prince grinning from ear to ear on a red bicycle.
The Duchess of Cambridge, a known photography aficionado, captured the sweet portrait earlier this week before Louis left for his first day at nursery school. For his big day, Louis wore various shades of blue in a navy sweater, checkered shirt, shorts, tube socks, and velcro shoes.
“Three tomorrow! 🚲,” the official caption reads.
With the pandemic keeping royal appearances to a minimum, Louis, his seven-year-old brother George, and five-year-old sister Charlotte have stayed relatively out of the spotlight over the past year. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge occasionally share updates of their kids, such as the homemade cake they made for Mother’s Day, their hand-drawn tributes to grandmother Princess Diana, and a video where they thank frontline healthcare workers.
Louis’s great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II just celebrated her 95th birthday yesterday, but it was a solemn milestone in the wake of her husband Prince Philip’s passing. Instead of sharing an official royal portrait to mark another year, she expressed her gratitude for the public’s support in a heartfelt statement.
“I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate,” she wrote. “While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world.”
